Exactly nine years ago today -- yes, Valentine's -- I first met the love of my life, My Bibe. It wasn't a date or anything fancy but rather it was inside a jeepney on a very bumpy ride to the Mt Pulag ranger station. It was a mountaineering expedition.
We instantly hit it as friends, chatting and sharing stories during socials amid the near-freezing temperatures atop the mountain. The following day after our descent, we had our very first photo taken -- and the only one with just the two of us. We were filthy and our shoes were full of mud. We were simply ourselves.
And to My Bibe, here's a little something I wrote for you:
Nine years it has been since that day
When into our hearts love has worked its way,
Planted a spark so small it was unseen;
How clueless of us, senses so unkeen!
Slowly, steadily, the spark grew a flame,
An animal so wild we could not tame.
Soon enough we succumbed to its might;
Now it shines bright, we relish the light.
Storms have passed and storms there may be,
But our love is strong and that they will see.
To have you with me is glory untold;
Love you forever, this vow I will uphold.
Always will I look back at that day
And celebrate with you in any which way.
To god, the heavens, or the forces that be,
Grateful I am and forever shall be.
I love you and Happy Valentine's!
