LOOKBOOK | Keeping it loose in "Judo shorts"
Why do people buy stuff that they don't use? I don't know because I, too, am guilty of that. Well, sort of. It's just that it takes me time to wear them, like these denim shorts from the Rafe x Bench collab of last year. They call them "Judo shorts" for some reason, and it comes with a denim belt.
Rafe Totengco's design goes against the usual fitted and tapered lot, sporting wider leg openings that spell comfort and ease. I've always been for slim silhouettes but every once in a while I do also go for loose-fitting clothes.
To avoid looking lousy when wearing a loose-fitting clothing item, the safest route to take is to pair it with something with a contrasting fit, which is why an oversized shirt and skinny jeans always works. Here I picked a black, slim-fitting long-sleeved shirt to go with my so-called Judo shorts. It's not the only rule, of course, because going for another loose-fitting piece can also work. That one, though, takes a lot of confidence and your styling should be on point.
Although the Rafe x Bench capsule collection was released last year, they still got items available both online and in their stores.
