LOOKBOOK | It’s not a Barong!
Every time I wear this shirt, people at the office mistake it for a
Barong—save for the very first time I wore it, tucked in black pants. I guess
it’s because the buttons don’t go all the way down, stopping just below the
chest. But here, since it’s tucked in, no one would question if it’s a
shirt.
The second time I wore this shirt, I left it untucked and paired with light
gray pants. Then everyone thought it was a Barong, inviting close inspection,
only to be befuddled by the abstract watercolor print. I think the fact that the fabric creases easily calls to mind the typical linen office Barong; hence, the confusion.
Just recently, I wore it again, untucked and paired with charcoal gray pants
and clogs. By the way, I love these clogs because they add a couple of inches
to my 5’10 frame. They look heavy yet they’re surprisingly really light; easily one of my favorite pairs of footwear.
Again, they mistook the shirt for a Barong. For the last time, it’s not.
