Boracay-bound

Image
Two weeks just seemed to fly by and tomorrow we're flying to Boracay for a short getaway. I'm excited, yes, since it's been two years since my last trip there (we decided to skip it for some places else last year). At the same time I'm also anxious -- maybe upset even -- because this island paradise seems to be on an unstoppable downward spiral. And each time I'm there, I see the accelerating decline. The last time I was in Boracay was in June 2009 post-surgery. It was like a gift to myself and My Bibe after almost two years of stress and deprivation brought about by my medical condition (that one is a long story and I guess I'll just have to blog about it separately in time). I wasn't able to swim or go on a real vacation during that period. Anyway, back to my 2009 trip, I was really thin then -- and not in a good way. One of the things that upset me about Boracay is that the beach is becoming narrower each time, as you can see in the photo below. ...

Today is my last workday of the week since I'll be going on a short vacation. So it's like Friday for me! As if in celebration, I put on this shockingly bright fuchsia ribbed pullover from Celio. But why not? Pants (Topman); shoes (Frank at Traffic); eyeglasses (Blue Soda).

Where I normally go for brown shoes with blue, today I went for a black pair. But surprise, surprise -- red socks! It's a perfect complement to my pink shirt and all that blue from the pants and tie. And while everything's already okay, this plaid jacket pretty much ties up all these colors. You may ask what's with the expression. We were having some problems with the camera shutter while shooting, so I was getting impatient. Shirt (Topman); tie (SM); pants (Sahara at SM); jacket (Zara); shoes (Aldo).

Added to travel list: Calanggaman Island

Image
About two weeks ago I came across some photos on Facebook of Calanggaman (or Kalanggaman) Island that definitely caught my eye. Curious, I looked it up and found out that it's just an hour away by boat from Palompon, Leyte, which in turn, is less than an hour's drive from Ormoc City where I partly grew up. So shame on me. The island is also accessible from Bogo City or Malapascua Island in Cebu province although the boat ride takes a little longer. According to photographer-blogger Gerry Ruiz , Calanggaman is still a relatively bare island. Except for a public restroom and some kiosks, there are still no facilities around. No electricity or provisions for accommodation either. Being part of Palompon, the island is managed by its local government that has also stationed a police team there for round-the-clock security. I was so enamored by what I saw and read that I've added Calanggaman to my travel list. The only drawback for My Bibe and I, however, is the "normall...
