[Lookbook 07.20.2012] Cape and cowl: An ode to The Dark Knight
It's no secret that I'm such a fan of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy -- all the way since he first recreated the Caped Crusader in Batman Begins, to his immortalizing The Joker in The Dark Knight, and up until the just-released epic conclusion to the series, The Dark Knight Rises. So last Friday, a day after I watched TDKR, I donned a cape and cowl.
Uhm, you really don't expect me to wear a Batman costume, do you? To work? Of course not! Well, I did don a Joker costume for Halloween a few years back. What I wore is simply something inspired by the Dark Knight, particularly his cape and cowl. The cowl, though, is not the one with pointed ears but a cowl-neck top.
The cape isn't really a cape but a stylized long cardigan, which fluttered in the wind nevertheless. So I guess it would pass as a cape -- albeit a short one.
A no-brainer, boots were in order. Now I picked dark blue jeans over black just to break the monotony here. In as much as I'd love to pay tribute to Batman, I also needed to look just fine at work, and I'd probably look like I'm being sucked into a black hole if I were in head-to-toe black. I didn't want to be mistaken for wearing a costume after all.
Okay, enough with the brooding. It's Friday and I'm off to fly...
'Cause I'm Batman. Haha!
