FRAGRANCE | Pink Pepper Leather EDP by ScentSmith Perfumery: A sweet and spicy delight

halfwhiteboy - ScentSmith Pink Pepper Leather EDP

Earlier in September I came across ScentSmith Perfumery at Greenbelt 5. After Hayden Kho's foray into fragrances--which I really liked, by the way--went kaput, I'm happy to see another brand contributing to the growth of the local fragrance industry. I left the store with a couple of bottles in tow, one of which is this EDP called Pink Pepper Leather.

ScentSmith Perfumery's fragrances come in 3-digit numerical indices. Women's fragrances start with 1, men's, 2, and unisex scents, 3. They all come in the same dark brown bottles and apothecary-style sticker labels, which you can opt to have personalized with your name and date of compounding. Normally they blend your fragrances in-store as you purchase them. They don't come with boxes, though.

Consistent with its namesake, it's basically pepper and leather that's most prominent in Pink Pepper Leather. There's a short burst of citrus that accompanies the sharp, spicy opening, then the leather comes rushing through almost immediately after. The fragrance settles very quickly, with an underlying sweetness that tempers the pepper and leather. I can also detect hints of woody notes in there. I just wished it took a little more time for the fragrance to develop because that's where the fun is.

In terms of performance, projection is moderate, predictably stronger in its first hour or two. Although it eventually weakens into a skin scent, it can last you the whole day. But then I don't mind doing a few touch-ups here and there because it's considerably inexpensive for an EDP.

At only Php 1,198 for a 100 ml bottle, Pink Pepper Leather is a pretty solid fragrance with an interesting enough blend. Although quite linear, its performance holds up. To me it's a fragrance worth trying, just maybe not as a blind buy.

  1. Hi Sir, went to their store and check it, i think its quite good and cheap for an EDP. Their Lavender/Nectarine also smells (almost)like one of the expensive brands (JM).
Anyway, as a suggestion, can you review azzaro wanted by night,Prada Black?
btw, we belong to the same company and also an avid fan of perfume as well
