I think I've been living under a rock since I've never heard that there would be a sequel to that abs-baring, testosterone overflow of a movie that was 300. At first I thought it was just one of those faux movie trailers but lo and behold, it is true! And here is our first glimpse of 300: Rise of an Empire:
Rise of an Empire follows the same treatment applied in 300, so expect a lot of muscle, lots of slow-mo highly stylized action sequences, and tons of gore.
Based on the Frank Miller graphic novel Xerxes, "Rise" takes off from the Persian Army's victory over Leonidas as they march onto new territories to conquer, with Athens being the first on its path. Rodrigo Santoro reprises his role as the really creepy Persian king Xerxes. The film also stars Eva Green as the woman-warrior Artemisia and Sullivan Stapleton as the Greek admiral Themistocles.
So are you excited or what? The film, however, doesn't open until March 2014. I just hope it won't disappoint.
