LOOKBOOK | Slippers, not flip-flops
Currently enjoying what little "cold" this tropical country is getting at the moment. Now while I would love to be pulling out jackets from my closet right now, I often still fall back to my lazy uniform of either a pullover or a sweater.
But I wore slippers to work. Dress slippers, I mean.
Where I live, when people say slippers they mean flip-flops. But those are for the beach, right? (But there are bedroom slippers, too!) From what I've read, slippers--more so dress slippers--were originally designed as house shoes for men hosting formal dinner parties at their homes during Victorian times. They're also called Prince Albert slippers, named after the 1800s royal who was reportedly fond of them.
Dress slippers traditionally come in velvet and suede but have of course evolved through the centuries and have made appearances outside castles and manors. Mine here sport a leather exterior with plush quilted insoles in purple.
More than anything, I like them for their slip-on ease. But then they also look so fancy that they instantly add a little oomph to an outfit, be it formal or casual. Just look at at how plain my outfit would have been otherwise. Well, I also added a scarf, worn loose like a stole, as an accessory.
It's so plain I could wear a blanket over it!
So what are your thoughts on dress slippers? Anyhow, have a great week ahead!
