FRAGRANCE | Vera Wang for Men EDT: Classy and understated

halfwhiteboy - Vera Wang for Men EDT

Let me just start by saying how gorgeous of a bottle this is. It's simple and elegant, the perfect representation of what this fragrance is. Vera Wang for Men is the only men's offering in a line of some 20+ fragrances from the designer most famous for her wedding gowns.

A bright citrus opening greets you upon spritzing. It's fresh but is one that doesn't scream at you, a little reserved perhaps. A light spicy and creamy accord soon follows before eventually settling into a light woody-tobacco base. There's a bit of sweetness, too, with some of the citrus making an occasional reappearance.

There are no loud notes here. Everything seems to be tamed and blended beautifully into something that speaks of class and understatement. It definitely is no projection monster but it stays on my skin throughout the day, affording me sporadic whiffs of it every time it gets reignited by body heat or some activity.

Simply put, Vera Wang for Men is understated elegance in a bottle. It's not on the same plane as, say, Guerlain's Heritage, which wears its masculinity a bit more prominently, but both are of a similar mold that arguably equates to class. To me this fragrance is suited to formal occasions or close counters, and is very much wearable all year round. Another successful blind buy for me here.
