FOOD | McDo PH brings Japan to us with their 'Flavors of Japan'
McDo PH's Flavors of Japan.
It's a known fact that Japan is a special market for McDonald's, and the fast food giant has several items on their menu that are only available in the Land of the Rising Sun. Good thing, however, as McDonald's Philippines has brought Japan a little closer to us Filipinos by way of their "Flavors of Japan" special, which just became available to the public yesterday.
It's not an extensive menu by any means but at least we get a sampling somehow. Flavors of Japan features the Teriyaki Samurai Burger, Ebi Burger, Nori Shake Shake Fries, and Strawberry Sakura McFloat. I tried them all last night.
The Teriyaki Samurai Burger. Eat with honor.
The Teriyaki Samurai Burger is basically the same McDo beef patty (a quarter pounder, I think) with lettuce, mayonnaise, and teriyaki sauce, all sandwiched in a black and white sesame seed bun. It's good enough but a little messy because of the rather runny sauce.
The Ebi Burger, on the other hand, is something like your good o'l Fillet-O-Fish but with shrimp and thousand island dressing instead of tartar sauce. There are also whole small shrimps inside that crunchy tempura exterior. It uses the same bun as the teriyaki burger. It's good.
The Ebi Burger.
Then there's the Nori Shake Shake Fries that I've long been wanting to try. I love the light seaweed flavor and the fact that it's not too salty. Rounding out this special offering is the Strawberry Sakura McFloat. Though I have a habit of eating the ice cream instead of mixing it in the drink, I strongly suggest you mix it in. It's much better with the creamy texture.
These items are available a la carte and in special combo meals, Sakura Meals to be exact. Flavors of Japan is available for a limited time only although I don't know till when exactly. So better head to your nearest McDo and try them all now.
