Summer just ain't letting up just yet. And while it's viciously hot and humid everywhere, there are situations that still call for some layering , like when you're indoors in an air-conditioned environment, for instance. Of course it would be odd to be sporting thick sweaters in the dead of summer - even if you'll only be staying indoors for the most part. I mean, at the end of the day, you'll still be leaving the air-conditioned comfort of your office and step right out into the suffocating heat, right?

Wanting to belong. I'm a fan of Leeroy New's work, by the way. So I found myself sneaking out during lunch last Friday to check out the just-opened Uniqlo Manila flagship store , touted to be the largest in Southeast Asia. This is so not me because I typically avoid crowded spaces and I hate long lines. But I guess I love Uniqlo so much. Besides, I didn't think the crowd would be that big at lunch time. I reckon it would be much worse in the evening and on Saturday and Sunday. Turns out I was somehow right because there were no more lines at the store entrances when we arrived. And because there was just so much space, it wasn't as chaotic inside. The lines at the cashiers, though, were really long but were moving at a relatively decent pace. Staff were already approaching queueing shoppers to remove those magnetic sensors before they even reach the cashier.

With the rainy season kicking in, we're expecting jackets, sweaters, and hoodies to find their way out of people's closets once again. But since it never really gets too cold in this country, perhaps we could go for some lightweight layering .

It's tough to go layering in a tropical country like the Philippines because unless you're in an air-conditioned space all day, chances are you'll end up soaked in sweat. Kimonos , however, offer a rather stylish alternative so you can still layer in summer. Think of an oversize lightweight cardigan.

Temperatures are rising and ironically, I decided to cover myself up. It's so easy to fall for short-sleeves and other such stuff in this weather but sometimes we need to layer, if only to dress things up a bit. And today I did just that with this lightweight jacket, at least at the office.
