[Lookbook 09.23.2013] Working the camera all by myself

Image
This is what happens when I'm all alone in our hotel room, all dressed up for dinner while waiting for My Bibe--selfie shots. With a remote whose battery had run out, I resorted to my camera's timer, carefully positioning my equipment atop pillows and alternately a table. It took a bit of practice, I must say.

[Lookbook 09.14-16.2013] Short weekend

Image
My Bibe and I took to the beach over the weekend just to unwind for my birthday. We went to Laiya in San Juan, Batangas, to the exact same spot we've been to almost seven years ago, only now it's a different resort. It was overcast for the most part although there were few brief moments of sun. At least it didn't really rain. Being at the beach, I was clad in shorts the whole time, mostly brightly-colored ones. On the three-hour drive going there (that stretched to four because of a pit stop), I wore an electric blue number that I paired with a printed gray tee to balance out the loudness.

[Lookbook 03.10-11.2013] It's all about stripes and feeling sexy

Image
Feeling like a don right there. I just came back from a quick vacay at The Peacock Garden in Bohol with My Bibe. I was happy with the hotel and we were just holed up there the whole time; no tours whatsoever. I don't have a photo of my Day 1 outfit but it was absolute camwhoring the following day, where I went around the vast hotel grounds in a striped tank, white shorts, and leather sandals. You can say it's a bit nautical because of the red, white, and blue but summer is undeniably here already, in this part of the world at least. I haven't written my  I've written a review of the place in a different post ( see here ) yet but in the meantime but anyway, let me show you around. Consider this a preview of sorts.

[Lookbook 03.02-03.2013] Monkey, Monkey, Anabelle and the sexy deep V

Image
I had the chance of escaping the beckoning summer heat of the Metro and hied off to Tagaytay for the weekend. Outfit-wise, I wore white shorts and a long-sleeved hoodie, which would hold fine in Tagaytay's cooler climate. But to keep myself still in touch with summer, I pulled up the sleeves and showed some chest -- lots of it. The hoodie had a severe deep V-neck, which makes me feel really sexy. Haha! I finished off the outfit with boat shoes.

[Lookbook 02.02.2013] Señor Santibañez and Facundo

Image
I had the fun of staying at Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Bagac, Bataan over the weekend. With hordes of transplanted heritage houses all around me, the cam-whore (or cam-gigolo?) in me was unleashed. The lovely setting likewise spoke of grand haciendas of old and somehow reminded me of Doña (or Señora) Angelika Santibañez of the hit 90's Mexican telenovela Marimar. Doña Angelika was the villain, one who always looked down on Marimar and the poor in general, forever barking orders at her servant Facundo. Thanks to memes that glorify her snobbish attitude with humor, the character is currently in a resurgent mode, at least among Filipinos since the memes are in Filipino. Marimar was dubbed in Filipino when it was shown on TV here. So just for fun, I thought of channeling my inner Doña Angelika as Señor Santibañez, with an imaginary Facundo in the background.

[Lookbook 05.06.2012] Self-portrait practice

Image
I went out today to have a haircut and to pick My Bibe up. I got to wear my new shorts from Regatta (that I love so much) and I thought of doing a lookbook post before heading out. Problem was, I had no one to take my photos. So I brought out the ancient tripod, mounted the camera, framed the shot, set the timer, and stood in front of the lens. Click! Then I checked the shot, set the timer again, posed again, checked the shot, and the cycle went on. Geez, I need a remote! I was sweating through the whole process but I thought it would be a good practice for my lonesome trip this Friday. Yes, I'll be traveling alone again after almost a decade and who do I expect to take my pictures but myself? But I really need a remote.

In spotlight at NY Fashion Week: Shorts

Image
I'm not much of a fashion watcher but I recently thought of checking what's up at New York Fashion Week. Looking at photos over at gq.com , I noticed a lot of shorts from different Spring/Summer 2012 collections. Here are but a few of what I love: From Parke & Ronen: I love the details on the sides. The tank's also nice. I really love short shorts, and this one is no exception. The blazer's nice, too.
