Busy day. Today's outfit started out with the chinos. It's Thursday already so I thought I had to relax things a bit. But while picking the right shirt to go with such (relatively) casual trousers, I thought I could go with something I don't normally wear with chinos -- and so this shirt. Personally I'm quite pleased with my decision to pair a rather casual item with something more formal. Mixing and matching clothes can prove to be fun, actually.

Runny nose by day, clogged sinuses by night. This is just so not the way to go. If it's any consolation, though, I'm quite happy with the not-so-warm weather today. It makes staying inside the office so friggin' cold -- and I'm enjoying every bit of it! Well yesterday was quite the fiesta in the local news scene: former President gets a TRO from the Supreme Court, former President tries to board a plane for Singapore (for medical treatment), Justice Secretary defies Supreme Court and orders Bureau of Immigration to bar former President from leaving the country, former President leaves airport and proceeds to local hospital for the time being, and then everybody weighs in on the issue. Maybe the former President should have just left through another airport north of Manila, the one that's been named after her father (the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport in Clark, Pampanga), and not through the one that's been recently dubbed as one of the worl...

39 years ago today, the Philippines was placed under martial law by then President Ferdinand Marcos. This lasted until 1981 and is widely considered a dark period in the country's history. Countless Filipinos who opposed the Marcos regime were effectively silenced - either temporarily through incarceration (among them the father of incumbent President Benigno Aquino III) and other means (torture included), or permanently (I need not elaborate). To this day, many are crying for justice over human rights violations during that period. Just this year, thousands of victims were awarded $1,000 each in a class action suit. This post is late. But common, it was my birthday! As of writing this, I'm in Tagaytay for a short weekend getaway with My Bibe . Anyway, this was what I wore that day: Surprise, surprise! My outfit hinted nothing of a special day. I had at least one colleague ask me if my shirt was new, though. But no, it's actually thrifted. People don't believe I do wear thrifted items because they say they don't expect it from me. I admit I don't go to thrift shops a lot but I have a couple of items in my wardrobe that are from such stores. I think it's a matter of how you carry yourself regardless of how much your outfit actually cost.

It's been raining like crazy since Saturday night. A tropical storm just off the eastern coast of the Philippines was to blame. I don't know when it's going to leave the country. But it should real soon because I need lots of sunshine in Boracay this weekend. Anyway, because of the wet weather coupled with gusty winds, I wasn't in the mood for dressing up much. I was expecting to get wet just opening the gate and getting in and out of the car. Thankfully that did not happen. But I was glad I had an excuse to wear a jacket. I picked one that's been hiding in my closet for so long now -- an Anthony Nocom creation that I got from SM a couple of years ago. I thought the color was not usual fare plus it's got lots of detailing. I wore a thrifted striped pullover underneath paired with blue pants from Sahara also at SM. The shoes, which are so worn out already, are from Aldo.

Was on sick leave yesterday. So that's one less Look Book post. On the bright side, though, it's like I skipped a day and now it's Friday! And it's revelation day for my self-imposed theme this week. But before that, today I'm wearing a thrifted chambray shirt that was supposedly for yesterday's look. Paired it with these brown pants with flaps from U at Rustan's and one of three pairs of espadrilles I bought over the weekend. Finally some native/tribal-inspired bracelets to go with the outfit. So what was this week's theme?

The ice cream man cometh! Yup, I feel like an ice cream man, a clown or something with my outfit today. But I like the cheerful vibe to it. One more surprise about this shirt...

I'm following a theme this week. But I'm not revealing what it is until Friday. A bit casual for a Monday but I wasn't up to ironing much last night. I got this shirt from SM Department Store a couple of years back. If my memory serves me right, I think it just cost a little over 300 pesos. I also brought this corduroy jacket just in case the air conditioning got a little too cold for comfort. I love how the buttons are fastened with these loops; feels like a toggle coat.
