The "foodies" that we are, Kwittiegirl and I are always on the lookout for something new to try. Sure enough The Goodness Jar entered our radar. A fairly new business venture, it's poised to be the perfect companion to your bread, crackers, and chips.
At 4oz the jars are quite small but I quickly realized it's just the right size for the product because apart from packing some rich and potent flavors, it has a fairly short shelf life as it has no preservatives. That said, I think it's best to get just one or two variants at a time. Besides, there's just two of us at home.
However, if you have a big family or if you're planning on entertaining at home, then by all means get more. It's also a great idea to bring to parties and gatherings. They're also available in 10oz containers, by the way.
The Goodness Jar is currently available in four variants. Here's a rundown.
With a thick cream cheese base, this one has a strong garlic flavor that I like, aided by the addition of some herbs into the mix. I enjoyed this one a lot with crackers.
If you love strong cheeses then you're in for a bit of a treat with this one. But don't worry, it's not that off-putting. Take it from someone who practically abhors stinky cheese. Anyway, with such a rich and thick consistency, it's not your typical oily pesto spread. Goes well with either bread or crackers.
With jalapeño bits gleefully blended into its cream cheese base, this dip is packed with just the right amount of heat. The label recommends heating it first as it's meant to be a dip but we were pretty much content with putting it atop the liver pâté we spread over some crackers. Works just as good.
The delectable liver pâté, Kwittiegirl's favorite of the bunch.
Loaded with a delightfully potent liver flavor, this pâté has a very smooth consistency that makes it very easy to spread onto crostini and crackers alike. A winner.
Oh yes, it's goodness in a jar. Time to restock.
For now The Goodness Jar is only available for orders.
