LOOKBOOK | Lousy blousy
They say fit is everything and oft we've been told by many a menswear bible to wear shirts that stay close enough to the body but not too much that the buttons are pulling at the fabric. But what a boring world it would be if everyone wore form-fitting shirts all the time! After all, loose is also a type of fit, right?
Yes, I perfectly understand the concept of wearing the right fit, and in fact I abhor shirts with too much excess fabric around the waist when you tuck them in. But there are shirts that are intentionally tailored to be loose-fitting in the first place, like this blousy pastel checkered long-sleeved shirt I'm wearing here.
As you can see, the shirt is boxy and a little too short to be tucked in. Um, probably because it's not meant to be tucked in at all. The sleeves are also rather oversized and consistent with the shirt's blousy structure, which I think is perfect for a relaxed weekend.
I paired mine with navy blue bermuda shorts, which allow the shirt's pastel hues to shine. Just remember to wear shorts or pants with a contrasting fit. While certain styles allow for a loose on loose fit to work, most of the time you'll just end up looking lousy if you can't pull it off.
For footwear I kept it really summer with plimsolls in a pineapple print. I didn't mind if it matched the outfit or not. And for accessory I wore an old native-inspired bracelet.
It's the start of another week but before you know it, it's gonna the weekend once again. So Happy Monday, y'all!
