LOOKBOOK | Relaxed and colorful

Image
Happy Friday! Just me in an oversized, graphic, pastel printed shirt . Didn't go all baggy this time and paired it with pants in a contrasting, tapered fit. Hello, weekend!

LOOKBOOK | Aquamarineman: Oversized

Image
Continuing my love for relaxed fit clothing , I wore this oversized pullover for another very casual day at the office. Apart from it being very comfy, it also comes in quite a lovely color—aquamarine, I believe. It's more greenish compared to aqua, which is more on the blue side of the spectrum.

LOOKBOOK | Tourist mode in pastels

Image
I've spent my college years in Cebu City, so I'm quite familiar with a lot of places there. But of course, much has changed since then and I haven't been back a lot, so I'm no longer as well-acquainted with most spots. That said, it was tourist mode on for me.

LOOKBOOK | Minion and florals

Image
Hello, Monday! Still working from home here and I thought I'd start the week with some pastel floral shorts to bring me some cheer. I'm happy to say that I can still squeeze myself into them! I mean, my love handles are showing but I can still comfortably fasten the button and zip it up with no problem.

LOOKBOOK | Weekend wedding

Image
We were invited to a wedding recently and the thing is, we actually attended! I don't know but the last time I went to one was maybe five years ago. There was also this other all-black wedding I went to before that. This recent one was an outdoor wedding with a formal theme. I already pictured that most of the guys will be wearing black suits and I had no intentions of blending in. I thought that after wearing that powder blue blazer  of mine to work, it was time to take the entire set out for a spin. And so there I was in a powder blue suit , trying to "socialize."

LOOKBOOK | Powdering up the blues

Image
Whenever I feel like wearing jeans to work , I always think of how to dress it up so I can practically get away with it. The usual culprits are an office shirt, with tie preferably, or a suit jacket. Having a more "formal" top helps divert attention away from the jeans. I guess that's the trick. Because of the rather attention-seeking but easy-on-the-eye powder blue color of my blazer, the jeans basically disappear in the picture, especially since they're dark. That I'm not wearing a collared shirt is also forgivable as a result, more so when you finish your look with office-appropriate leather shoes. So do I get a pass or what? _____________ Blazer (Zara Man); pullover and jeans (Uniqlo); shoes (Massimo Dutti).

LOOKBOOK | Cheer up with head-to-toe pastels

Image
Happiness in tiny hot air balloons. It was our big boss's birthday and we were asked to wear pastel colors . I know a baby pink or mint green top would be fine but why settle for just one piece when you can do your whole outfit in pastels, shoes included?

LOOKBOOK | Lousy blousy

Image
They say fit is everything and oft we've been told by many a menswear bible to wear shirts that stay close enough to the body but not too much that the buttons are pulling at the fabric. But what a boring world it would be if everyone wore form-fitting shirts all the time! After all, loose is also a type of fit, right? Yes, I perfectly understand the concept of wearing the right fit, and in fact I abhor shirts with too much excess fabric around the waist when you tuck them in. But there are shirts that are intentionally tailored to be loose-fitting in the first place, like this blousy pastel checkered long-sleeved shirt I'm wearing here.

LOOKBOOK | Mint fresh

Image
I don't think anyone would hate t-shirts. Be it a graphic print tee , a biker/rocker tee , a classic anime like Voltes V tee , or a cutesy character tee , there will always be a tee for everybody. Its print or design may have a lot to do with a t-shirt's appeal to someone, especially since simply pairing it with jeans, joggers, or shorts already makes for an outfit in the most convenient way possible. But there's also a lot to be said of its plain counterparts. Because there are no distracting or clashing prints whatsoever, a simple plain t-shirt offers the wearer a canvas on which to build a whole look. Of course it looks just as fine with jeans, joggers, or shorts, but it most certainly looks way better with more formal trousers than any printed tee would. A plain tee is simply more versatile.

LOOKBOOK | Pale shades

Image
It's usually all bright colors , florals, and tropical prints we see as the summer heat marches in. It's a good thing, no question, because they all look good under the sun. But whites,  pastels and other pale shades  also offer another option for keeping ourselves fresh-looking amid the heat. This white polo shirt with pastel blue accents I'm wearing is but one example.

LOOKBOOK | Baby colors

Image
Baby pink. Baby blue. They're fairly common references to lighter, pastel shades of pink and blue. But they aren't just for babies, are they? I mean, I also like wearing them on occasion. Pastels are easy on the eye, inoffensive, and refreshing. Pairing pastels with darker colors always works in clothing as long as the colors are complementing each other, like pastel yellow and brown, or mint green and navy. It's like a fail-safe bet each time. But then we often forget that pastel on pastel , or at least pastel on a similarly lighter shade, also works. Just look at them babies!

LOOKBOOK | 02Oct2015: Not quite like Friday

Image
Jeans are de facto Friday wear at the office and boots are not at all uncommon in my case either. But a long-sleeved shirt? I must have been in the mood.
