FRAGRANCE | Jo Malone Hemlock & Bergamot Cologne: Lovely, powdery floral
This is the second of two colognes we recently got from Jo Malone's Wild Flowers & Weeds Collection. For the longest time I haven't found a Jo Malone that works for me, so this line proved to be quite the surprise. Cute labeling on the bottle, too!
Hemlock & Bergamot Cologne to me is a linear but very affable, powdery-floral fragrance. It's a unisex scent although I think some may find it a little feminine-leaning. The fragrance is soft and clean, with spring/summer written all over it. I don't really get any prominent bergamot, though, but more of a citric sharpness underlining the powdery floral. While it isn't necessarily a bad thing, I guess I was expecting a more active role somehow because of how it's named.
As anyone would probably expect from a cologne, the scent isn't quite as long-lasting, although its cousin Cade & Cedarwood performs much better by comparison. That said, this one requires a couple of resprays to last you the whole day. I wouldn't normally mind except that Jo Malone Hemlock & Bergamot is a little too expensive for a cologne. But if you can get past that, you'll find that it's a lovely fragrance. No, not groundbreaking or anything, but lovely nonetheless.
