LOOKBOOK | Summer in high-waisted

For months now, I have this fascination with high-waisted, relaxed-fitting pants that I often see from Japanese guys on Instagram. I never would have thought that I would take a liking to such a style but they look so cool on these guys. For one, they're so thin, so basically anything would look good on them. But for whatever it's worth, I also want to give it a go.

The problem is I can't seem to find high-waisted, relaxed-fitting pants in stores locally. If they had flare jeans, all the better, but they just don't. But that don't deter me at all. In one instance, I pulled one of my jeans up as high as possible for a high-waisted look. It was okay but still not the look I was going for.

I tried it with a different pair of trousers this time—a garterized, pleated, and slightly cropped number with a loose fit—and it somehow works. Pulling it up only accentuated its cropped style, which works for me since I'm not that tall. I paired it with a plain white tee and a cream-colored, long-sleeved shirt left unbuttoned as if it were an overshirt. Finished off the look with white canvas slip-ons and I'm all set for summer. Yeah!

Do you know of any shops (physical or online) that sell high-waisted pants for men, preferably ones with a flare cut or are simply loose-fitting? Please share.

But no one wants to go all formal on a Friday, so I wore my Barong Tagalog with sneakers . I thought, if a full-on suit works just fine with sneakers, a barong would be just as perfect with this type of footwear.

FRAGRANCE | Green Cedar EDT by Bench: An environmentally-conscious offering from the Philippines' premier retail brand

A few weeks ago, I found myself wandering inside Bench Powerplant Mall. And what else would catch my eye but two fragrances by their lonesome twosome, positioned far away from the rest of the brand's scent offerings. They're Basil & Neroli and Green Cedar , both EDTs and part of the  Bench Better Made line . The frags are purported to be vegan and cruelty-free. They come in 125ml dark brown glass bottles and brown paper cylindrical boxes. Nice packaging there except for the cheap, plastic cap. No big deal, though, since they're just Php 428 apiece.

FRAGRANCE | Rajo Uno EDT by Bench: An inexpensive local gem

Philippine retail giant Bench has been many a high schooler's go-to shop for cheap colognes, myself included. And even during my college years, Bench has remained a staple. I remember  Bench Ei8ht was very popular with many people back then although my favorites were their body sprays Cielo and L'Amoureux . Through the years their roster of fragrances has only grown by leaps and bounds, with a lot of them made in collaboration with celebrities and fashion designers like Rajo Laurel .
