(Updated) Take it to the beach with swim shorts

Image
Cold spell now over and temperatures are slowly rising. The advent of summer is at hand! And whenever I hear summer, there's only one thing that comes to my mind--the beach. I still have no concrete plans whatsoever but I took to Facebook to check what some of our local brands have in store for the season, particularly where swim shorts are concerned. Unfortunately, not all of them have photos of their collections but I found bits and pieces from their posts on the social media site. So far I'm liking what I see and I'm sharing these with you (although now I have to beat everyone to their stores). Penshoppe The flagship brand of Golden ABC posted a photo of a bunch of swim shorts, all of which come in different striped designs. There's no photo of them worn by anyone but by the looks of it, the length sits just fine with me. I want my swim shorts short, so I'm glad these ones aren't droopy.

One of the many standout scenes for me in X-Men: First Class involved Erik Lehnsherr in a pub somewhere in Argentina. It wasn't really a grand spectacular showcase of Magneto's powers but it highlighted his menacing character in a subtle yet very striking manner. In that sequence, there were just three other men, a knife, and a gun. I'm going with the knife for this shoot. It's Friday and I'm not wearing jeans, all because of this Magneto fanboy insanity that's beset me. While he did wear polos in the movie, they were never seen with jeans. And so be it, no jeans. The polos Michael Fassbender wore in the film were just about the right fit, fitted enough but never too tight. Pure perfection! Just look at them:

[Project Look Book - Boracay Weekend] Saturday, May 14, 2011

The weather was just perfect over the weekend at Boracay. A dark cloud that brought a few showers passed us by on our first day, and then it was all sun. The next day I woke up to see rain and overcast skies. Thankfully after breakfast, the sun showed up and ruled mightily for the rest of the day. We welcomed the sun at Solstice, The Tides's rooftop bar. Here I'm wearing a distressed shirt I got from Ko Phi-Phi in Thailand, which I already featured in a previous post ( see here ). In that post, though, I forgot to have a shot showing the back of the shirt. This time around I also forgot but I unintentionally had this shot taken. I don't know, I always forget about that huge tiger on my back. When it was time to hit the beach, I ditched the shirt and went for a tanktop from Penshoppe.

Friday, yes! It feels so good to have just started my workweek yesterday (was on leave for the three days before that) and then immediately have it ended today. I'm wearing this toggle hoodie from Penshoppe that I've forgotten about already. Well, almost. Got it last December while on vacation in Baguio. The shirt was a kris kringle gift from an officemate (Folded & Hung). Put on black skinny jeans from Topman and a pair of Chuck Taylors and I'm good to go! Happy weekend!

After two nights in Coron town, My Bibe and I spent another two nights at Club Paradise in Dimakya Island, which is still part of Northern Palawan. We checked in on Easter Sunday, and this was what I wore that day: It was stifling (as expected in the summer) so I wore this chest-baring shirt with a really low neckline from Topman. The sleeves are also cut shorter than usual. Got the shorts from Surplus Shop at SM and the straw hat from Bench. I don't own any expensive sunglasses and even if I do, I don't intend to wear them to the beach. Seawater can be very corrosive. So I found an alternative in these wayfarers from i2i for about 300 pesos. Not bad. And after an afternoon of soaking up the sun, I somehow got what I wanted: a darker, sun-licked complexion (if only temporarily). Oh, notice the really short shorts? Also from Folded & Hung. Tank top from Bench. And another oh, I almost forgot about dinner. Paired this collared pullover from Hermes with cheap short...

I'm back from a vacation in Palawan. Will just rest for another day at home before facing reality at the office once more. With the number of days stricken off my Project Look Book, I've decided that to make up for it, why not post what I wore during our vacation? So because there was no internet connection at our resort for the last three days ( Isn't that wonderful, detached from everything else? ), the posts are likely to come one after the other. So here goes... On our second day at Coron in Palawan, My Bibe and I went on an island-hopping tour. So what else is there to wear but swim shorts?! Was on the hunt for short swim shorts for some time now. I wanted them above the knee and it was quite a task as all you see around in stores are those droopy board shorts that I have since outgrown. At least for now. So I was lucky to find these short-enough shorts from Folden & Hung. Yes, I'm baring all my surgery scars. I originally had a tank top on but after se...
