[Lookbook 11.28.2014] P is for...

Image
Just before we were leaving the office tonight I had a couple of shots of me taken at the parking area. Maybe it was all the yellow on that floor that enticed me. But whatever, today's outfit was simple and very relaxed, today being a Friday. It's just jeans, a sweatshirt, and some kicks. Even if it's not the dominant color, it's the green that's tying everything together.

(Updated) Take it to the beach with swim shorts

Image
Cold spell now over and temperatures are slowly rising. The advent of summer is at hand! And whenever I hear summer, there's only one thing that comes to my mind--the beach. I still have no concrete plans whatsoever but I took to Facebook to check what some of our local brands have in store for the season, particularly where swim shorts are concerned. Unfortunately, not all of them have photos of their collections but I found bits and pieces from their posts on the social media site. So far I'm liking what I see and I'm sharing these with you (although now I have to beat everyone to their stores). Penshoppe The flagship brand of Golden ABC posted a photo of a bunch of swim shorts, all of which come in different striped designs. There's no photo of them worn by anyone but by the looks of it, the length sits just fine with me. I want my swim shorts short, so I'm glad these ones aren't droopy.

Penshoppe SS14: The men's pieces

Image
Last night Penshoppe presented its new collection for Spring/Summer 2014 at the SMX Convention Center as part of Philippine Fashion Week. The hall was all black, so both backdrop and runway, which were made of mirrors in a sleek and edgy arrangement with varying degrees of protrusion and elevation, stood out. Spectators descend on the runway after the show. The collection was characterized by stripes, palm tree prints, and other graphic patterns, as seen across polo shirts, t-shirts, tank tops, lightweight pullovers, and a few long-sleeved shirts. The patterns likewise extended to ball caps and bags. There were a lot of short shorts (something I personally like) in light colors and prints, with a couple of light-colored jeans thrown into the mix, while sandals was the footwear of choice. The models, who all sported a wet-look, brushed-up hairstyle, either wore long beaded or braided fabric necklaces, sometimes both. Here are all the men's runway pieces from the show:

Be super with Penshoppe x Man of Steel gear

Image
The movie Man of Steel is clearly white-hot right now, at least based on box office receipts (critics are divided). And in case you haven't heard, top Philippine retailer Penshoppe has a movie tie-in, so there's everything Man of Steel in their stores at the moment. General Zod and Man of Steel caps, Php 279 apiece. Of course I'm gonna choose Zod. Since late May, Penshoppe has unleashed a barrage of t-shirts, tank tops, accessories, and other items, with designs ranging from the expected Superman logo to cartoon illustrations of familiar elements in the Superman universe. Men's tees are priced at Php 549, tank tops at Php 499, while hoodies go for Php 1,399.

Penshoppe's next endorser is a vampire

Image
Ian Somerhalder is arriving in the Philippines on Saturday, May 19, 2012 for his Penshoppe shoot. * * * * * * * * * * It seems only yesterday when Zac Efron came on board Penshoppe's growing stable of international celebrity-endorsers. Now, a vampire from Mystic Falls tweeted: It doesn't take a rocket scientist (let alone a theoretical physicist) to deduce that Ian Somerhalder of The Vampire Diaries is next in line for Penshoppe. And he's coming over? Hmn... Nice one again, Penshoppe.

Zac Efron covers Garage magazine

Image
Hollywood heartthrob Zac Efron, Penshoppe 's latest international celebrity-endorser, graces the May 2012 issue of Philippine-published Garage magazine. This follows fellow Penshoppe spokespersons Ed Westwick's and Mario Maurer's appearances on the mag's cover. [Photo from Penshoppe's Twitter account] I have yet to get a copy of the mag but according to a tweet from Penshoppe, Efron said in the feature, "I think Penshoppe and I were made for each other." Spoken like a true spokesperson!

Zac Efron joins the Penshoppe family

Image
Of course you've heard it already; Hollywood heartthrob Zac Efron has recently joined Penshoppe's growing list of international celebrity endorsers. The Philippine powerhouse retailer posted the following photo on their Facebook page  yesterday: Efron will be joining the likes of Gossip Girl 's Ed Westwick...

Ed Westwick for Penshoppe: new items

Image
As we all know, Gossip Girl actor Ed Westwick is but one of Penshoppe 's increasing number of foreign celebrity endorsers. He was here in the Philippines last year for a campaign shoot and we've already seen several finished products of that effort. After a brief intermission when the brand flew in Thai celebrity Mario Mauer, Westwick is back for Penshoppe's Pre-Summer 2012 collection. I'm loving that white blazer and paisley shirt underneath it. I'm gonna have to check their stores soon. There's also this cute shirt below with a boldly contrasting placket. The shoes look cute, too.

It was our department's Christmas party today. This year we had it differently and veered away from our usual nighttime soiree with a program and all. Instead, we had a "sparty" where people enjoyed foot spa and back massages. However, it was far from the usual relaxing spa experience because it was noisy like any typical gathering. Well, no one was really expecting a zen-like ambiance in the first place. There were card and board games, a videoke (karaoke) and a Wii station set up. The pool was also available although no one really cared for a dip. So I was just in jeans and a t-shirt, then I slipped on a pair of Sanuks. It was my first time wearing this tee, though. It was our team's collective Christmas gift for everyone in our department last year. I like the fit but I wasn't happy with the printing. Oh well. After lunch I changed to shorts and flip-flops.

I'm back to work after a brief visit to Cebu, and look what we've got at the lobby just before the day ended: Lots and lots of apples! They were giving one each to anyone interested. It's but part of efforts to drum up anticipation for the arrival of the iPhone 4S here in the Philippines (and the end of the exclusivity erstwhile enjoyed by another carrier with the iPhone's first four incarnations). "We believe everybody deserves an apple." is the campaign, which I find cute. Now on with today's outfit. I wore a vest from Penshoppe that I got while shopping for gifts to bring to Cebu. Sorry but every time I shop for someone else, I can't resist the urge to get something for me as well. Anyhow, I love it's light brown shade, something I don't think I have in my wardrobe. Plus it was on sale! I wore a plain white shirt underneath paired with light gray pants and brown shoes. I kept it clean and simple.

[Project Look Book] Thursday, November 24, 2011

My day was entirely spent on one of several planning exercises for next year. Tomorrow we'll have another one. That said, I feel so drained by day's end. So I have to brace myself for another round tomorrow. And because I wasn't really going to spend my day doing my usual workload, I decided I'd wear jeans (and I was the only one in our group who did although few noticed). I definitely still had respect for Thursday, so I dressed the jeans up a bit with a long-sleeved shirt and leather shoes. I also chose dark jeans because they tend to look more formal than those in lighter shades. I accessorized with a necklace and some beads.

Oh how I love Fridays! Tomorrow's gonna be full, though. Need to wake up early for that $#^@! child's follow-up visit with the doctor, catch Breaking Dawn with My Bibe ( Yeah, every guy in a relationship has to oblige ), have a massage, and run some errands in between. So there's only one day left for actual rest. :( It's a typical Friday outfit for today's Project Look Book post: jeans and t-shirt. The shirt, by the way, is something really old, like, 6 or 7 years already. I remember getting it from Cinderella, a small chain that carries a hodgepodge of different brands including Esprit. It caught my eye as I was scouring my closet last night, and I thought, why not?

Yeah, right. Yesterday I wrote that I should spice things up a bit for today's wardrobe, particularly with color. Well guess what? I didn't. Unless, of course, you think that a lousy doodle of a cat with boobs on a plain white tee is spicing it up. I got the t-shirt from Artwork, and everyone in our team at the office has one. Well, not with the exact same cat-with-boobs doodle but with similar designs that we fondly call our "monster shirts." I paired mine with Penshoppe jeans and Zara sneaks. I also decided to put on this asymmetrical cardi from yesstyle.com.

I always love the relaxed feel of being in jeans. Not that I abhor wearing more formal stuff but I guess it's the fact that I only get to wear them once throughout a five-day workweek that makes me look forward to it. On the flip slide, I believe that if jeans were my regular work wear, then it's the dressing up that I'll be missing in that case. Oh well, it's Friday. The jeans are from Penshoppe and there's not much really to today's outfit. The t-shirt was just something My Bibe picked up for me in one of her business trips in Iloilo. And then a pair of Chucks. My only accessory was my Jeremy Scott for Swatch wristwatch.

I'm gearing myself up for a very busy week ahead. So I need to recharge over the weekend. I need my physiological batteries fully charged. I'm always looking forward to Fridays because I get to wear jeans at work. I opted for a lighter shade today with this Topman number paired with a Penshoppe tee. For footwear, I wore these high-cut shoes from Zara. Although you can't see it that much from the pictures, there's a Celio pink-and-gray fabric belt around my waist. I've been forgetting about my Jeremy Scott for Swatch "wall clock" of a wristwatch lately so I made up for my neglect by wearing it today as well.

This post is late. But common, it was my birthday! As of writing this, I'm in Tagaytay for a short weekend getaway with My Bibe . Anyway, this was what I wore that day: Surprise, surprise! My outfit hinted nothing of a special day. I had at least one colleague ask me if my shirt was new, though. But no, it's actually thrifted. People don't believe I do wear thrifted items because they say they don't expect it from me. I admit I don't go to thrift shops a lot but I have a couple of items in my wardrobe that are from such stores. I think it's a matter of how you carry yourself regardless of how much your outfit actually cost.

Friday. Finally! Our boss treated the whole team to a buffet dinner at Dad's in Glorietta 4 earlier this evening. I believe I've had more than my fair share of tuna sashimi and California maki that I had to have coffee the minute I arrived home. It was fun, I must say. And I hope that all the crazy things we shared in the spirit of fun will indeed bear fruit. Moving on to today's outfit, I pulled out this old shirt from my closet. It's from Artwork and I had it for many years now. It's got some Chinese characters on it that supposedly mean "lion." I know I'm no Gryffindor but I couldn't find one with a snake then. Anyway, I believe I was drawn primarily to the shirt's color, then the fit. Err, about the fit, that applied way back then because nowadays I'm forced to suck it all in, which is quite difficult after having a buffet dinner. The shirt also has a huge print at the back, which I like a lot. I paired the shirt wi...

This is an unplanned post. My Bibe and I simply went to Greenbelt earlier this afternoon and I decided on a whim to just post something. This was me before we left, wearing a deep V-neck tee (that I can't wear to the office) from Topman, jeans from Penshoppe, and my rainbow espadrilles I got from OTOP along SLEX. And then this was me after our little trip to the mall:

This morning I had a taste of what it feels like to wear shades indoors. Well, here's the story. We started shooting with me wearing a polo from Paul Smith, jeans from Penshoppe, a belt from Polo Ralph Lauren, and high-cut sneaks from Zara. I also wore a bracelet from H&M. So this was me before silliness came into play:

The Human Resources advisory that we've all been waiting for came at around noon today: we already can go home. You see, this tropical storm has been dumping huge amounts of rain since yesterday, causing flooding in many areas in Metro Manila and of course, unbearable traffic jams last night. It was just chaos all over. Good thing we live relatively nearby but some of my office mates made it to their homes close to midnight already, considering most of them left the office before six. So that email announcement earlier was definitely a good thing for everyone. But what did I wear today in this kind of weather? Boots. A few even commented that they're perfect for today, like I was ready to brave the floods (though luckily I don't have to). I got them from an Aldo store in Hong Kong, and they've become an instant favorite of mine. I also wore an Ed Hardy tee and a pair Penshoppe metallic jeans, which I realized I haven't worn in a while. And given ...
