LOOKBOOK | Buck the trend and go small with micro florals

Image
Cliché as they are, floral prints are all the rage once again because it's summer. And people never seem to get tired of them--me included. [Check out: 9 Instagram accounts for your buttoned shirts this summer ] Still, florals are not for everybody. If you find such prints too loud for your comfort, or you simply want to go against the tide, try micro floral prints instead. They're still florals, of course, but much more subtle.

LOOKBOOK | Baby colors

Baby pink. Baby blue. They're fairly common references to lighter, pastel shades of pink and blue. But they aren't just for babies, are they? I mean, I also like wearing them on occasion. Pastels are easy on the eye, inoffensive, and refreshing. Pairing pastels with darker colors always works in clothing as long as the colors are complementing each other, like pastel yellow and brown, or mint green and navy. It's like a fail-safe bet each time. But then we often forget that pastel on pastel , or at least pastel on a similarly lighter shade, also works. Just look at them babies!

[Lookbook 10.09.2014] Color-taming

Despite all the deadlines and the gazillion more things to do, it's fun times at work this week as our HR is holding a wellness fair for us with a particular focus on style. Dubbed #OurSmartStyle, the week-long event features booths from various partners like Robinsons Dept. Store, Belo Medical Group, Fitness First, G2000, Basic House, and more. There's everything from discounted apparel and fragrances to free hair and makeup. So my colleagues and I checked out the photobooth at the lobby. But since 4 shots and 1 print clearly ain't enough, we also brought our own camera. And of course I got some shots for this outfit post.

Our dear fluffy pants Kwittie Boy here just wants to be in the frame. Ironically when he's the one being photographed, he does not cooperate. So I take it that he's just messing with my OOTD shots. Oh cats. Anyway, I tried inching myself closer to wearing corporate attire to work again. Though I didn't fully commit to it on my first try by ditching the tie ( Wow, that rhymed! ), I managed two days this week with a necktie. Today, however, it's a bow.
