I'm in Slytherin!

After hitting a snag last night ( see related post here ), I finally was able to move forward this morning. I've managed to open an account in Gringotts, strike off everything in my shopping list, get myself a twelve-and-a-half-inch wand fashioned out of sycamore with dragon core, board the Hogwarts Express, collect a couple of Chocolate Frog Cards, and finally, get sorted. I was extremely anxious about it, the whole sorting process, much like every other incoming freshman at Hogwarts. As I answered each of the seven questions thrown at me,  I took screenshots to "document" my journey (though I'm not sharing them with you so as not to spoil everybody else's would-be experience with the sorting process). And then the screen was filled with green... I instantly went crazy. It was such a relief to belong with wizards and witches who were destined for greatness, much like Merlin and uhm, Lord Voldemort. And reading through the welcome message was a blast...

Pottermore bummer

Yes, I finally received my much-awaited Pottermore email in the wee hours of Sunday. I was about to go to bed then but I resisted the urge to log in, else I wouldn't stop browsing. So I succeeded and only checked the site late this afternoon after finishing all the chores that I'm supposed to do. Pottermore lets you go through Harry Potter's seven-year journey once more but with dozes of new information this time around. So far into my foray, I especially loved the backstory about the Dursleys, Petunia and her sister Lily (Harry's mom). There are comments sections available, and much like Facebook, you can add friends. A couple of members, me included, have voiced suggestions for background music and sound effects. But I don't really know how that will pan out considering the site is already heavy on graphics and animation.

I still haven't received my Pottermore welcome email. I'm already dying to check out the site but at the same time nervous about the sorting process as I don't want to end up a Hufflepuff (sorry). I want to be in Slytherin on all accounts! At the moment I'm still waiting, wondering if they'd used "digital owls" to deliver my email. If so, then I suppose they sent the digital version of Errol to me. I was in a bit of a casual mode today with a knit pullover from Zara, chinos from The Ramp, and my favorite quirkily-shaped (well, slightly) lace-ups, also from Zara. To dress it all up, I simply threw a scarf around my neck.

I am magical!

I wish J.K. Rowling would...

First off, I'm happy that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 2)  has just broken the record for the biggest single-day box office gross (in the U.S.), which was previously held by The Twilight Saga: New Moon . Deathly Hallows (Part 2)  earned $92.1 million on its opening day, close to $20 million more than what that vampire-werewolf movie made when it opened. It's just wait and see until tomorrow if it knocks off The Dark Knight  (my all-time favorite movie) for the biggest opening weekend ever. I really don't care much except that I hope that this last Potter movie will be the one to finally breach the $1 billion mark for the franchise. It's like there's a protective charm around that figure. I hope Voldemort breaks through that just as he tore through the web of charms around Hogwarts. Moving on, we all know that Potter author J.K. Rowling has promised no more Harry Potter books. Okay, fine. But I do wish that she still write stuff, not necessarily ab...
