Talk about a late post! A very late post in fact. This was an outfit I wore to our department year-end party last December. While everyone was donning all sorts of battery-powered lights, Halloween-esque black, silver, and neon trappings because the theme was "digital" (whatever that means), I opted to go against the tide and, in my vocabulary, not make too much of an effort. Don't take things too literally, I told myself. Besides, I wanted an outfit, not a costume. I contemplated on whether I can put an all-white ensemble together based on stuff I already have. I was going after one of them sci-fi characters in sleek uniforms while going about their day inside some futuristic, brightly-lit, all-white headquarters of sorts. But I didn't have the right jacket. What I had in mind was something with a Chinese collar and a slim silhouette. I knew finding one was a long shot unless I had it custom-made.

I know some people are uncomfortable, if not totally averse to, wearing white pants . They say it's difficult to wear and all that. But you just put them on, right? Of course you do. White, much like black, is so versatile you can pair it with almost anything. The thing is we usually relegate white to tops (Hello, white t-shirt and white dress shirt!) but seldom to pants. Or never. Because we're so afraid of our clumsy o'l selves.

I've always found a lot to love about vintage fashion. It's hard to put a finger on it but looking at all those old photos, it was all cool. And dignified, might I add. Very gentlemanly. This summer, channel that old-school cool with these vintage-inspired looks from East Dane and saunter your way through the season with dignified swag. Oh yeah! The might of white White -- okay, even cream -- is a color we guys shouldn't be afraid of. I think that because no one wants such immaculately clean clothes soiled, we become a bit more careful, behave better perhaps, like a true gentleman. Jacket by Fanmail . Theory T-shirt. AMI jeans. Today was one of those days when at last I got to wear one of my purchases from probably December or January. Thanks to the unbearable summer heat this rather simple blue shirt has finally left my closet and seen the light of day.

This post is a week late. By this time the local weather bureau had already announced the official start of the rainy season, a typhoon had already whizzed by the archipelago, and parts of Metro Manila have already fallen victim to flooding.

As much as I love black and color, I also love white. It's just that I'm not really one who's comfortable wearing white because I can be such a slob. Today was different, though, as I mustered the confidence to put on some white pants for a fresh look. It's the first day of March, which means summer is very much at hand this side of the world.
