FRAGRANCE | Boucheron pour Homme EDT: A classic citrus that transcends time

halfwhiteboy - Boucheron pour Homme EDT

Close to 30 years since it was first released, Boucheron pour Homme has proven to be a classic citrus fragrance that transcends time. The blend is arguably not something of today's style but hey, it's still very much around.

Though brightest in the opening - as such notes usually behave - the citruses linger and go far beyond where most citruses go. Floral nuances caress this zesty accord, smoothening out its rough edges before it settles atop its predominantly dry and earthy base of vetiver and oakmoss, which in turn provide depth to this citrus fragrance.

Not quite a fougère but not exactly a chypre either, Boucheron pour Homme at some point teeters toward powdery but decides that dipping its toe in the pool is enough. By contrast, its cousin Jaipur Homme embraces its powdery character wholeheartedly although both maintain a fresh and fairly light demeanor (not to mention the same gold and royal blue motif for their bottles). A few more hours later, its musky facet starts to emerge but stays close to the skin.

This fragrance is by no means a beast, at least as far as the current formulation goes. Projection is moderate at most and softens after an hour or two. While it carries on for a couple more hours, it's mostly a skin scent by then. However, since it's quite inexpensive, I have no problem respraying as I please to boost its performance.

I find Boucheron pour Homme to be very wearable and versatile. Yes, its citrus DNA makes for a great summer scent but it works just as fine in colder temperatures. It's definitely worth trying. And considering how affordable this juice is, there's not much to loose if you blind-buy it anyway.
