LOOKBOOK | Summer in December: Two weeks of Luau-themed office wear

Image
Ah, Christmas in the tropics. No matter the slight drop in temperatures, we're still far from the snowy white holidays etched into our minds. But at least we can enjoy the beach with no problem. And I get to wear shorts and a tropical print shirt any time I wish, just like in the photo above, taken in 2018. Meanwhile, face-to-face Christmas parties are back and our department chose a luau theme . I personally would have wanted something that entailed a bit more effort (yes, it's way too easy) but there's no point in sulking. They say happiness is a choice and I chose to be happy and just enjoy the theme, so much so that I decided to wear luau-themed office wear for two weeks leading up to our party (Caveat: We're on a hybrid work arrangement, so I wasn't at the office all throughout those two weeks) .

FASHION | Your summer footwear guide

Image
Just as summer presents us with the opportunity to dress lightly and maybe even show a bit more skin, the season also has plenty to offer our feet. Cue some lightweight footwear and let your feet breathe, relax, and enjoy the season just as much as you are. Clockwise from top left: Camden woven loafers from Cole Haan . Birkenstock Arizona super grip sandals. Boat shoes from Sperry . Havaianas flip-flops. Kritonas sandals from Ancient Greek Sandals . Castaner striped canvas Pablo espadrilles. Luca sneakers from SWIMS . Rivieras Tour du Monde Pavillon Zulu slip-ons. Loafers With the right design, loafers are probably the "dressiest" you can go with summer footwear. Well, I don't mean to say that your office lace-ups are a no-no but let's just label them as all year round shoes that, sun or no sun, you'll wear anyway. Casual and comfy, loafers can also double up as driving shoes.

[Lookbook 04.24.2013] Covered up for summer

Image
Temperatures are rising and ironically, I decided to cover myself up. It's so easy to fall for short-sleeves and other such stuff in this weather but sometimes we need to layer, if only to dress things up a bit. And today I did just that with this lightweight jacket, at least at the office.

[Lookbook 03.01.2012] White-hot legs

Image
As much as I love black and color, I also love white. It's just that I'm not really one who's comfortable wearing white because I can be such a slob. Today was different, though, as I mustered the confidence to put on some white pants for a fresh look. It's the first day of March, which means summer is very much at hand this side of the world.

[Lookbook 01.09.2013] Refocusing attention with stripes

Image
Oh yay, my first outfit post of the year! It's actually been a while since I last posted one. Well, the holidays are definitely over and sadly, they're not easy to forget, what with all the excess poundage that hound me every time I try on clothes! Oh yes, I'm fat, so I'm trying to divert attention from my midsection with some vertical stripes.

[Lookbook 05.06.2012] Self-portrait practice

Image
I went out today to have a haircut and to pick My Bibe up. I got to wear my new shorts from Regatta (that I love so much) and I thought of doing a lookbook post before heading out. Problem was, I had no one to take my photos. So I brought out the ancient tripod, mounted the camera, framed the shot, set the timer, and stood in front of the lens. Click! Then I checked the shot, set the timer again, posed again, checked the shot, and the cycle went on. Geez, I need a remote! I was sweating through the whole process but I thought it would be a good practice for my lonesome trip this Friday. Yes, I'll be traveling alone again after almost a decade and who do I expect to take my pictures but myself? But I really need a remote.

[Lookbook 03.16.2012] My dismal attempt at 'Noynoying'

Image
In the same stupid mold as planking, owling and Tebowing, now comes " Noynoying ," an irreverent jab at the Philippine president's supposed laziness and inaction. A play on his nickname Noynoy ,  Noynoying enjoys a variety of poses that depict his not doing anything but is mostly characterized by a slouchy posture, a dead stare with mouth agape, or a hand supporting one side of the face ( best if you can drool! ). Well, I tried Noynoying for this lookbook post but the photos didn't quite turn out as what I'd wanted them to be. I kinda suck at it, to be honest. Guess I need more practice. Eventually I bailed out and defaulted to my usual lookbook poses. It's Friday and I was enjoying the sunny vibe of my outfit.
