For once I'm not writing about fragrances or posting about my outfits, and it's all because of this very elegant-looking cake called Cherries Jubilee , which we've been enjoying at home since Valentine's last week. It's a limited offering from Monique Cakes , who's also responsible for the delectable Helen's Guava Cake .

Cuatro Cups. Too pretty to eat, you think? Ah, the things you see on Instagram, plus the joys of delivery. We recently tried out Pasteleria Manila , a home-based bakery business by Ces Lopez that sells cakes, cookies, pastries, and other baked goods. It has a curious backstory, having started out as a fundraising activity for her kids. Lopez innovated on the classic Brazo de Mercedes and turned it into something a little more convenient to eat by way of brazo bars . She later came up with other products and the rest, as they say, is history.

Kiss the Tiramisu's "Midas Touch." Trying to cope with the punishing heat of summer? That's what led me to finally try Kiss the Tiramisu . I've passed by it several times already and found the name quite weird, absolutely clueless that it's a popular dessert cafe chain from South Korea. Now here's a rundown of my solo experience.

Tempting, isn't it? It was my first time trying the famous Aleng Taleng's Halo-Halo in the town of Pagsanjan, Laguna but apparently I had no idea just how popular it is. To say that the place was packed when we arrived at half past three in the afternoon is probably an understatement. It was chaotic! Normally I would have bailed out when faced with a long wait at a restaurant but we thought, since we were already there and it's not everyday that we get to drive to Pagsanjan, we might as well brave the storm.

[Updated 02.13.2014] I've already been seeing My Pink Wasabi at The Collective along Malugay Street in Makati City since late last year. Actually I saw the place even when it was still being constructed! But for the silly life of me, I thought it was just another yogurt place--until My Bibe and I finally checked it out about a fortnight ago. So what did they have? This: Maki sushi for dessert. They've got sushi! For dessert! And yes, they serve it on a sushi plate and with chopsticks. This ingenious creation of meticulously hand-rolled mini-cakes designed to resemble maki sushi  looks too cute to eat. They call it Kashi Maki , meaning, "sweet maki" ( kashi being the Japanese word for sweet; maki, of course, is that rolled type of sushi).
