'Ugly' Drake covers GQ's July issue

Image
Canadian rapper Drake--who Amanda Bynes notoriously called ugly on Twitter--graces the cover of GQ Magazine's July 2013 issue. Shot by Mario Sorrenti, Drake is wearing a silvery gray shirt and what the mag calls summer's biggest hit--white jeans.

Beyonce shows lots of skin on the February 2012 cover of GQ

Image
So after a photo of GQ's February 2012 cover was leaked on the internet, the magazine has, well, made it official. Beyonce is indeed the cover girl, and boy is she showing a lot of skin! Shot by Terry Richardson, the singer headlines the mag's 100 sexiest women of the century, something I'm really excited checking out. Meanwhile, expect to see more of Beyonce soon as she sings the national anthem on Obama's inauguration on Jan. 21 and when she takes over the Super Bowl's half-time spectacle on Feb. 3 ( as reported on justjared.com ). Update: more photos of hot momma Beyonce released by GQ!

Rihanna sexes up GQ this December 2012

Image
GQ Magazine's annual Men of the Year issue is here once again. As has been tradition, this issue has multiple covers and bestows upon individuals such titles as Movie Star of the Year and Filmmaker of the Year, to name a few. And my, oh my, does Rihanna know how to sizzle and show why she is GQ's Obsession of the Year (though I personally don't like her that much)! Magic Mike star Channing Tatum is also in one of the covers, but unlike Ri-Ri, he's not stripping this time (although he seems to be teasing the ladies with his smirk). Tatum has been accorded the title "Movie Star of the Year." Meanwhile, actor-filmmaker Ben Affleck, whose recent film, Argo , has been enjoying both critical and box office success, has been named "Filmmaker of the Year."

GQ goes "linsane" this November 2012

Image
I may already be a little late in posting this but what the heck -- it's Linsanity in GQ's November 2012 issue! I haven't heard from NBA phenom Jeremy Lin in a while, and I, for one, thought that the whole Linsanity thing was over. But GQ put the man on the cover and brought him back into everyone's consciousness -- okay, at least in mine.

Triple cover for GQ's April 2012 issue

Image
GQ Magazine just announced that they're coming up with their first-ever style bible this April. And with that comes three different covers featuring: Dave Franco James Franco's little brother is joining Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill in the upcoming action-comedy  21 Jump Street . Frankly I don't know much about him but I think he's slowly making a name for himself now.

Michelle Williams sizzles on GQ's February 2012 cover

Image
Who knew Michelle Williams was this hot? Of course she played Marilyn Monroe, so I guess she is after all. But common, who knew? I still very well remember her on Dawson's Creek and since then she's zoomed past her co-stars ( Was there a Katie Holmes there? ) to become the respected and award-winning actress ( Congrats on the Golden Globe! ) that she is today. But I never realized how much of a bombshell she actually is. Sure she looked hot decked as Ms Monroe in Vogue's October 2011 issue...

Matt Damon covers GQ January 2012

Image
I just got my January 2012 GQ yesterday. And it always pisses me that January issues are always really thin, I feel shortchanged even if all those extra pages were just ads. Anyway, Matt Damon is on the cover and he's wearing some really good polo shirts in this issue. Go get your copy now. Source Last few days of 2011...

GQ Men of the Year 2011

Image
November's almost over and I hope to grab a copy of GQ's December 2011 issue this weekend. Consistent with tradition, it's the mag's annual Men of the Year issue. The usual four different covers are made up this time of a wacky duo, the customary sex siren, and two "serious" shots.

'The Other Asian' on GQ

Image
Harry Shum Jr., the guy who used to be referred to only as "the other Asian" on Glee , is modeling some winter fashion on GQ's November 2011 issue. He's someone I really admire for his dance moves on the show -- the man with no bones, as the magazine puts it. And I'm glad that, even inch by inch, he's finally stepping into the spotlight. On with the clothes, I'm loving what the magazine has chosen for the shoot. I can't really relate to the coats and all that wool stuff because we don't have winter here so I'm connecting more with the vests and the socks, especially how they're mixed in a way I never would have probably thought of. This shoot has definitely a lot to offer for inspiration. Photos from GQ.com You can find GQ's short but sweet interview with Harry Shum Jr. here . For the full slideshow, click here .

The survivors on November 2011 GQ

Image
I'm excited about GQ's November 2011 issue. The cover says it all: Photo credit:  http://justjared.buzznet.com/ The magazine is featuring music legends and legends-in-the-making from Keith Richards, to Eminem, Brandon Flowers, Iggy Pop, Beck, and more. Now I have to find my October issue; haven't finished that one yet.

Leo DiCaprio on the cover of GQ again

Image
I still haven't really sunk my teeth into my copy of GQ's September 2011 issue, and here I learned that the October issue's coming out already. Leonardo DiCaprio graces the cover once more, and  My Bibe  and I both agree that he looks much better with age. In the issue, Leo talks about working with Clint Eastwood on J. Edgar , on which movie he's most proud of (and it's not Titanic ), of whether he has any interest in directing, and more. J. Edgar, which opens in November in the U.S., is the story of legendary FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, who was both much reviled and revered at the same time. He was also rumored to be hiding in the closet. Needless to say, the movie is geared for the Oscars, and that golden statuette has been eluding Leo for so long already. Is he desperate to win? I don't know but he's been tackling really serious roles in really serious films that don't make that much money but win awards. For the longest time I've been wa...

GQ July 2011: The case of the interviewer lost in the interview

Image
I got my July GQ last week while at the airport in Hong Kong. Back here in the Philippines, it usually is not available until the last week of the month. So Chris Evans of Fantastic Four fame, and now Captain America, graces the cover. The photos inside were great, courtesy of Mario Testino. I loved his use of light in that shoot. The article, however, was a disgrace in my opinion. The writer, Edith Zimmerman, who was supposed to profile the actor, basically wrote all about herself and her flirtatious time with Mr. Evans instead. Seriously, the article was all about her. She was like this teenager gushing and acting so irresponsibly, getting wasted and sleeping over at Chris's house.

Alexander Skarsgard, Ryan Reynolds, and Bradley Cooper covering June 2011 men's mag issues

Image
I just got my copy of the June issue of GQ earlier. Alexander Skarsgard of True Blood fame is on the cover. I don't know much of him, though. There's also a spread on what to wear to a wedding featuring Glee's Darren Criss, and Kim Kardashian's latest squeeze modeling a slew of swimsuit must-haves. I didn't buy Details but Ryan Reynolds is on the cover. I hope Green Lantern is as good as the trailer promises it to be. I don't buy Esquire mainly because I find it boring. Maybe I'm just too accustomed to GQ. But Bradley Cooper is on the cover and he looks sharp in that suit. More so, it's a bit raunchy with those ladies's hands reaching for him.

Backlog

Image
GQ's March issue already went into wide release in the States last Feb. 22. So I expect it to be here already as well, or maybe towards the end of the week. Channing Tatum's on the cover (his second). And yeah, after pretty much enjoying every bit of it, Billy Ray Cyrus is complaining about Hannah Montana destroying his family. But I'm actually excited what the feature on South Park's creators are all about. Problem is, I haven't even finished reading last month's issue yet: And of the month before that: And even before that. What usually are left behind are the magazine's lengthy articles, investigative and profiles alike. They're really good articles, I tell you, and I love reading them. But when I decide to start reading one, that means I gotta have time to spare. And so the backlog has piled up. Hopefully I clear some of them off over the weekend.
