[Lookbook 06.06.2012] I committed a crime

Image
Yes, I did commit a crime today, a crime of fashion. You know when you're never supposed to wear a single brand head-to-toe? I did just that, albeit unknowingly. I very well knew that the top and trousers I would be wearing were from the same brand but I went on anyway because I loved the color combination so much. Besides, two pieces don't necessarily mean head-to-toe already, I thought. Until I picked the shoes, which, I realized only now, are of the same brand as the clothes.

[Lookbook 05.07.2012] Knit-pick

Image
Knits aren't really associated with warm weather but I insisted on wearing one today. In my defense, it's not a chunky knit piece in the first place. Second, it's short-sleeved. Third, I'm in an air-conditioned office the whole day. Besides, it wasn't as warm as the last week. Fourth, look at the color! Fifth, it was 60% off! I picked up a couple of knits last week from Tyler, and a lot of them were either 30% or 60% off ( and still are as of yesterday! ). The colors were just amazing and I completely went crazy over them. ( If you want to own one, go ahead and join my Tyler giveaway . )

Hot summer with Tyler

Image
I normally don't do blog posts about women's fashion but I came across these photos a couple of weeks ago showing a hot and sexy mayor donned in Tyler's latest collection. The mayor in question is Pie Alvarez of San Vicente, Palawan and the photos appeared in The Philippine Star's Lifestyle Allure section last March 25.

Never too late for Tyler's Holiday 2011 collection

Image
Yesterday I came across some photos of Tyler's Holiday 2011 collection again and realized that I haven't been to any of their stores for quite some time now. I've seen photos of their collection on their Facebook page  late last year but I've never really bothered, probably because the holiday season was just chaotic and I dreaded going to malls. Tyler has been around for quite some time now but it still hasn't become that huge of a brand. With only four stores (three in Makati and one in Mandaluyong), it has more of a cult following than mass appeal. And I prefer it that way if you ask me. So here I am now thinking of paying them a visit soon because the items shown in their collection are looking really good. Shot by ace photographer Xander Angeles, the campaign is just stunning: plain background, lots of light, minimalist and elegant. I know it's from "2011" but I bet most of them are still available in stores. If not, I know I can always tak...

Was just being silly here. I mean, I need to be what with all the stress at work. Although it's been a long day -- and it really felt freakishly long -- it's all good.

After yesterday's near-monochromatic look, I decided to brighten things up a little today. Not that brown is a really bright color but it's the floral pattern on the shirt that lend some sunny vibe to my outfit -- sunny enough but not too loud either. And lest I fall into another monochromatic pit, I chose bluish gray pants to go with all this brown. The floral shirt is something from Prima Linea. It originally had a wrinkled fabric but after countless encounters with the flat iron, the wrinkles disappeared over time. I've never really ironed the shirt, just some steaming to remove unwanted creases. Still, the fabric smoothed out eventually.

I've been a very good (half-white) boy these past few weeks. Good in the sense that I had no new purchases whatsoever. Well, it pays to avoid malls totally. I know Zara is still on sale but I've tried really hard to not think of it and just keep myself busy with other stuff instead. I've been quite successful so far although I don't know till when I can contain myself. I wore suspenders today sans any bow tie, which, I think would've been cute. But I just didn't feel like wearing one. I had to drag myself to work after all. Both shirt and shoes are from Tyler while the pants are from Topman. The suspenders are H&M.

I'm still on a Harry Potter high. And while all of Voldemort's horcruxes have been destroyed, I got myself one: It's My Bibe 's, actually. She gave it to me just last Friday because it keeps coming off even her middle finger already. It's made primarily of white gold contrasted with a small portion that's yellow gold. The kitty cat ring is so horcrux material, right? Already, an officemate was asking how it can be destroyed. I told her, only a shard from the Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen, Denmark can destroy it. Anyway, I wore a black shirt today from Tyler, paired with gray pants from Topman, and a pair of plaid shoes from Pedro. I felt like accessorizing, hence, the Aldo necklace and of course, the horcrux  ring. We tried shooting outside and it was abnormally very windy. The wind just kept flattening my hair! So this was what I could salvage:

Much like those angry birds, I've been a very angry half-white boy since yesterday. Well, not all throughout but most of the time. There's just a lot of things that seem to provoke me, from my internet connection, to the cats making a mess, to traffic, to the cap of my tumbler that went missing, etc. Anyway, I'm okay now. Well I should be because My Bibe and I are going out tonight for a simple dinner somewhere. It's our sixth anniversary (yay!). It's a pretty simple outfit for today but I love the color. I mean the shirt, which is Tyler, a local brand that I like a lot. I find the collar quite unusual, or at least it's not something I see often. The cuffs are also quite odd, including the way the shoulders are cut. I just realized that last one while ironing the shirt last night although I completely forgot about it today so I missed on photographing them. Maybe the next time I wear it I'll show you. The suit's from Merger and the shoes a...

I wore suspenders today, which I got from H&M. I really wish we had H&M here in the Philippines although there are rumors that there will be soon, along with Uniqlo. If rumors are to be believed, local retail giant SM, credited for bringing Forever 21 into this third world country, is bringing them in. That would be really nice. Having mentioned the suspenders first, it seems that everything else in my ensemble today revolved around this piece of accessory. True. I thought of the Bench chinos next, mainly because they have a shorter length and I wanted a bit of a cropped hemline somehow. I would have wanted to roll them up to expose more ankle but I don't think it's appropriate for the office very much. Next in line were the shoes (Tyler), which I anchored on the leather parts of the suspenders. I thought of white first for the shirt but I quickly opted instead for this blue one from Topman. I ditched the idea of wearing a bow tie and saved it for my next out...

Where normally one would dress according to the weather, it was the other way around with me today: the weather behaved according to my outfit. So instead of saying my outfit is perfect for today's wet weather, I'd say my turtleneck and jacket are perfect for this rainy Wednesday! You see, I've decided the other night that instead of just phony image distortions and floating coins for Magneto week, it should be my outfit that reflects the inspiration from the iconic villain in the first place. It is in this context, therefore, that I am whipping out stuff from my closet that will display my take on Michael Fassbender's effortlessly cool Erik Lehnsherr in X-Men: First Class. I started off with a black turtleneck from Onesimus. Turtlenecks are evidently a favorite of Erik's in the film, and I perfectly understand why. For one, they're very versatile, casually cool on their own and easy to dress up in an instant. Oh look, he also wore a black ...

Some sheen to go with black today. It's the metallic pants that I'm referring to for sheen here. Part of a suit actually from Anthony Nocom at SM. The shirt's from Tyler.

Toxic week. But at least it's over now although the toxicity prevails and will be continued on Monday. Anyway, I wore tattered jeans today. We're not supposed to in the office but I've debated it in my mind long enough. My main argument is this:

Today's look is a personal favorite. I already forgot about this Hermes shirt until I chanced upon it while looking for stuff to wear for my old clothes theme last week. I was fascinated with the print and I asked myself why I haven't been wearing it. But whatever the reason is, it's irrelevant - I'm wearing it now! So I paired it with trousers from Urban Outfitters , though I was having problems with its length and size. Too late to press another pair of pants, I thought. But after today I'm definitely bringing it to a tailor for some alterations. The shoes are from Tyler which I got a couple of years ago. And can I tell you a secret? They're actually a size smaller for my feet (sshh!). They weren't available in my size at the time but I wanted them badly. You see, Tyler normally keeps just one pair for each size and model. So I'm feeling a bit of pinching in my feet whenever I wear them. The brown leather bag is from Zara . Today I also ...

In the mood for black today but toned down the somber look with these distressed metallic lace-ups from Zara . I totally forgot about this shirt already until I saw it last night while looking for something black. It has this stylized collar that won't allow a tie with it (unfortunately I don't have a closeup photo). Realized I still haven't worn it. I also can't remember when I exactly bought it, except that I got it from Tyler. Belt, Merger. The pants are from Topman . I always go for either their slim or skinny fit, preferably with the short length. Topman has either "R" for regular length or "S" for short. If I'm wearing skinny pants I want them to have very little or no break at all (but I'm not always successful at finding the perfect length). Here I'm wearing skinny, and judging by the break at the hems, I think they're the regular length.
