FRAGRANCE | Le Jardin de Monsieur Li EDT by Hermès: Pleasant but a little too much like the others in the line

halfwhiteboy - Hermes Le Jardin de Monsieur Li EDT

Le Jardin de Monsieur Li is another entry in Hermès's Un Jardin line. It stays faithful to that familiar DNA of its predecessors—from the sweetened green undertone down pat to the soft to moderate projection, only this one lasts a little longer (from morning to very late in the afternoon in my case). It doesn't offer much in terms of identity, unfortunately.

This reminds me a lot of Un Jardin Sur Le Nil and Un Jardin Sur Le Toit, only their fruity aspects (mango and apple, respectively) are substituted with kumquat. Of course there are differences in composition but the general vibe is pretty much the same: a fruity-sweet, green fragrance. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that but if you already own either of the two, Monsieur Li can be a little redundant (it doesn't come cheap, by the way)—unless you're collecting the whole line.

On its own, however, Le Jardin de Monsieur Li is a very pleasing fragrance. Perfectly unisex, its lightness and simplicity make it an ideal wear for summer. Maybe it's too simple—to a fault even—but sometimes it's what people appreciate more. I can't say that I love it but it's enough for me to like it. You might like it, too, so go try it.
