FRAGRANCE | Intuition for Men EDT by Estee Lauder: A fairly unique freshie that's so afraid to offend

Estee Lauder, parent company to heavyweights Tom Ford, by Kilian, Jo Malone, and many more, doesn't seem to be that active in the men's fragrance category as far as its namesake brand is concerned. And if I'm not mistaken, a number of their masculine offerings have since been discontinued. I don't own any myself. So after coming across a good deal, I got Intuition for Men out of curiosity, another blind buy after a quick read.

The presentation's pretty straightforward but the asymmetric, curved, and rectangular bottle is quite sturdy and heavy. The cap doesn't lock in place, however, a rather minor inconvenience I don't particularly mind. Mine's a fairly new bottle from 2019.

Intuition for Men is an inoffensive and very safe freshie that's best suited for warm weather and daytime wear. It's no powerhouse and projection is mostly on the softer side, so you gotta spray more—perhaps even on your shirt—to get the most out of it. The opening is clean and mildly sweet, with no token citruses for a change. Rather, there's a nice and quite realistic cucumber wafting around in its stead, so it's not that common a scent for that matter.

There's also a hint of spice and fruit. The spice carries no sharpness with it and is more herbal in tone but far from the wonderful herb garden that is Siam Proun by Olympic Orchids. The fruit, on the other hand, has just a bit of juiciness to it. There's no sourness or sharpness either. Overall the scent feels really light with a powdery slant, a very balanced composition in my opinion. To an extent it reminds me of Jaipur Homme because it also is spicy and powdery, only this one is way softer.

As I've mentioned, Intuition for Men lacks power. While I can live with that, unfortunately it also doesn't last, and this is its main fault. The fact that resprays are more than necessary makes this fragrance not that covetable no matter how nice the scent. Unless performance is not an issue for you, then you might want to give it a chance.
