LOOKBOOK | What a plaid blazer can do

Image
Looking deceptively spiffy, aren't we? I've always been doing this: I show up to work in a pullover and some pants . It's as plain and casual as it can get but you can argue that it's comfy and non-restrictive. Besides, it's still pretty much office-appropriate.

LOOKBOOK | Powdering up the blues

Image
Whenever I feel like wearing jeans to work , I always think of how to dress it up so I can practically get away with it. The usual culprits are an office shirt, with tie preferably, or a suit jacket. Having a more "formal" top helps divert attention away from the jeans. I guess that's the trick. Because of the rather attention-seeking but easy-on-the-eye powder blue color of my blazer, the jeans basically disappear in the picture, especially since they're dark. That I'm not wearing a collared shirt is also forgivable as a result, more so when you finish your look with office-appropriate leather shoes. So do I get a pass or what? _____________ Blazer (Zara Man); pullover and jeans (Uniqlo); shoes (Massimo Dutti).

LOOKBOOK | Dressing up a t-shirt for work

Image
Uniqlo is one of my favorite brands. Every time I go in any of their stores, chances are I leave with a paper bag of stuff. They always seem to have something that I like--and can afford--there, this Super Mario tee being but one example.

LOOKBOOK | Mint fresh

I don't think anyone would hate t-shirts. Be it a graphic print tee , a biker/rocker tee , a classic anime like Voltes V tee , or a cutesy character tee , there will always be a tee for everybody. Its print or design may have a lot to do with a t-shirt's appeal to someone, especially since simply pairing it with jeans, joggers, or shorts already makes for an outfit in the most convenient way possible. But there's also a lot to be said of its plain counterparts. Because there are no distracting or clashing prints whatsoever, a simple plain t-shirt offers the wearer a canvas on which to build a whole look. Of course it looks just as fine with jeans, joggers, or shorts, but it most certainly looks way better with more formal trousers than any printed tee would. A plain tee is simply more versatile.

LOOKBOOK | Coattails in reverse

Image
Just wearing my signature lazy outfit here of pullover and pants. Inherently casual, especially how the pants are cuffed, I put on my usual spin of throwing a jacket over to dress things up a bit. In this case it's an asymmetrical blazer that's longer in the front. It's kind of like my coattails are in front. The last time I wore this blazer I used a necklace in place of a pocket square . This time, though, I sticked to, well, a good o'l pocket square.

LOOKBOOK | Super cyan

Who doesn't love Fridays? Aside from heralding the start of every weekend, don't we all just love that we can ditch the stiffness of formal corporate wear and go casual ? I know some fashion pundits lament the fact that casual has become too casual these days. Of course I'm just as guilty as everyone else, what with me sporting nothing but a t-shirt and jeans combo with sneakers on Fridays at work. But in this case I'm trying to keep it a little dressed up. Just a little.

LOOKBOOK | 20Jun2015: Dreaming in the city

Image
De Niro, Scorsese, and DiCaprio may have wanted in but I was never as keen. It's not the type of place Kwittiegirl and I usually go to but we just spent the weekend at City of Dreams Manila. We left our hotel room for dinner and then went around to see what dreams exactly were here in this little city.

LOOKBOOK | 14Apr2015: Silver against the sun

Image
I don't understand what kept me from wearing them but yesterday my pair of silver brogues finally hit the road close to four months after getting them. At this point the sun is shining blindingly bright, so I thought I'm going to give him a dose of his own medicine by reflecting everything back.

LOOKBOOK | 08Jan2015: From bed to work

Image
Yep, I had a feeling someone was watching me. The cat was probably wondering again what in the world I was doing. Anyway, yesterday's outfit was like Friday arrived a day earlier. Yes, it's very casual and I was really feeling the salmon pink color here.

[Lookbook 02.15.2012] Masking a lazy outfit

Image
I feel like I've been stuck in a rut since late last week. I've been quite lazy with my outfit choices, basically donning whatever's the easiest to prepare. This week it's been all about henleys and pullovers. Despite the lack of inspiration, I decided on doing a Lookbook post. However, I had to "mask" such laziness.

[Lookbook 01.25.2012] Playing with some excess fabric

Image
I wasn't really feeling "corporate" last Wednesday so I went for a casual, dressed-down look. It's the top that's too casual actually. It's practically a t-shirt except that it has a cowl neckline and "lots of extra fabric." I don't really know what to make of it because it's sewn into the shirt and all you need to do is play with it as if it were a scarf. To dress it up, I wore normal office pants and a pair of leather lace-ups. I picked brown to lend the outfit a more formal look.
