Ah yes, everyone's scrambling at the Shibuya Scramble Crossing , some even with selfie sticks in tow. Looking back, though, I can't believe I wore these bulky and very heavy, square-toe leather shoes from Marsèll —to a place where a lot of walking is expected. And I kid you not when I say they're heavy. But then I just love the way they look, not to mention that they add an inch or two to my height. Nevertheless, I managed with no blisters whatsoever; just tired legs and feet.

So South Korea's Parasite just made history at the Oscars. From K-Pop to K-Dramas, they really are kicking it in high gear. Meanwhile, I'm just trying to keep warm in our abnormally cold office when a colleague commented that I look like someone from a K-Drama (but sans the perfectly smooth skin, I guess). Whatever it was, I took it as a compliment. So not only does wearing a coat keep me warm; apparently it can also evoke some K-Drama feels. 😁

I know, it's funny that I'm wearing a coat in a tropical country. But I'm just trying to cope with this manufactured indoor winter at the office. While I don't understand why they can't bring it to a comfortable temperature, I'm looking at the bright side—I can wear a coat .

As I'm writing this I'm wondering about where the "cold" weather has gone. Not that we have winter or anything even remotely close to it but the Philippines usually gets to enjoy a wee bit of cold air courtesy of the northeast monsoon. But I haven't felt it at all. I got a taste of it elsewhere, though, last month. On a day set for a whole lot of walking, I prepped myself with a sweater, light brown jeans, and sneakers. Now lugging a coat around while going about town can be a bit of a hassle. Good thing it was cold enough throughout the day to allow me to just put it on practically the whole time. I was ready to elbow my way around all these tourists.

Forget about that debate on whether a person is a traveler or a tourist. Fine, I'm a tourist. While it certainly wasn't my first time here, it was my first in December where temperatures are much cooler. That in mind plus the anticipation over a whole day of walking led me to come up with this outfit.

It's been weeks now since I was blown away by photos of an underwear menswear shoot in shark-infested waters for how to spend it of the Financial Times . And every time I see them, that sense of amazement and admiration has never diminished. Now I hope to share that feeling with you just in case you haven't seen or heard of it yet. Although underwater fashion shoots are not at all that uncommon, this is the first one I've seen that was done atop a diving wreck and amidst a gam of sharks. Sure, the sharks may not be the man-eating type but they're still very capable of inflicting harm, however unintentional it may be, like a swipe or a nip.

There's really something about fall fashion that captivates me. Maybe it's the layering. I don't know if it's the pieces themselves like sweaters and coats. Or maybe it's the fact that I simply cannot wear them here in this climate, hence the feeling of deprivation, that longing for such wear that it already becomes aspirational to me. Oh well, pardon me for such repeated musings because it's these 10 coats here that got me all started again. If there’s one thing good about living in the tropics, it’s that you get to enjoy the beach almost year- round. And with that, you get to wear the lightest of clothes from t-shirts to tank tops and shorts. However, there’s always that yearning somewhere for layering, which would only most likely result in beads of sweat trickling down my face.
