LOOKBOOK | Dusty green

Image
Dusty green pants , a white pullover, and white sneakers. That's all. And oh, a scarf because the AC at the office is on overdrive.

LOOKBOOK | Cream and green

Image
The relaxed fit clothes trend is becoming more and more commonplace these days, most notably among Gen Z kids. But this vibe reminds me a lot of the 90s of my youth, where nearly everything was baggy. However, with their updated take on what has been, today's pieces feel more refined somehow, and I am increasingly falling in love with them by the day.

LOOKBOOK | Micro and maroon

Image
I'm not one to shy away from wearing colored pants . I've worn bright green, rust , mustard , and coral pants , to name a few. I know some are probably iffy with wearing colored trousers but if you want to dip your toe into it, maroon seems a pretty safe bet, especially if it's in a darker hue. It goes well with white, black, and navy, all of which I've probably used already.

LOOKBOOK | Sunny days call for some color

Image
It's been sunny and bright these past couple of days, a reminder somehow that summer's just around the corner. So I'm enjoying these sunny days with some color by wearing red pants . And for added fun I slipped on some pink loafers . These colors are of the same vein anyway, so they complement each other.

LOOKBOOK | Summer birds

Image
It's January and already I'm dressed up for summer . Temperatures may be a wee bit cooler now in this part of the world but it's no winter for sure. It's forever summer in the Philippines, y'all!

LOOKBOOK | Cornflower and peaches

Image
Casual and summery. Too casual even. It starts with the oversize Cuban shirt --clean but not crisp. Instead, it's relaxed and flowy. Then the cornflower blue ankle pants , with a rather roomy fit but not as boxy as the top.

LOOKBOOK | Just another plaid shirt

Image
Yes, it's another plaid shirt , something I'm easily drawn to. This one comes in a woven fabric , however. I like that it's a tad thick and for some reason it gives me the cowboy feels. Quite surprisingly, too, this one's a small (I'm usually a medium). I think it's the American sizing.

LOOKBOOK | 'Tis the season for flannel

Image
Flannel shirts have a special place during the colder months. They're warm and comfy, and their usually plaid patterns allow for versatility in terms of putting together an outfit.

LOOKBOOK | Coral on land

Image
Though I also dig black, neutrals, and darker hues, I'm not one to shy away from color either. I even have this thing for wearing colored pants for years now, and I don't care if it's pink. Yes, pink. Guys wearing pink shirts may no longer be a novelty these days but guys wearing pink pants isn't all that common yet. I understand it takes guts to wear something as loud as this but you can always start with safer bets like dusty or muted pink trousers . You'll get used to it soon enough. As for me, I'm going for coral , though.

LOOKBOOK | 28Oct2015: The spray painter

Image
Another long overdue post but I felt like pushing through with it still because I'm personally just loving the burst of color in my outfit here. This was taken in the heat of our Halloween preparations where we were decking up our office space with a Shark Tale Halloween theme . I was spray-painting some newspaper here that would be made into corals.

LOOKBOOK | 30Sept2015: Heneral Luna and a squirt of mustard

Image
Isn't he cute? Obviously it's not really part of my outfit today but something I used to accessorize my bag. It's a crocheted doll of General Antonio Luna , a Filipino hero and military tactician during the Philippine-American war, and the subject of a local film that's currently taking the public by storm. Unlike most local biopics of heroes where the subjects are almost portrayed as saints, this film -- Heneral Luna -- makes no attempt at glossing over him and instead presents his humanity -- his temper and brashness included. Somehow this depiction has endeared him to a lot of Filipinos at the moment. After a slow start at the tills, people who have seen it early on have been fervently campaigning through social media for people to support and watch the film. The positive feedback has snowballed into an inescapable noise and suddenly everyone just had to watch it. It was like the people took ownership of the film and overturned what would have been a flop into ...

LOOKBOOK | 08Jan2015: From bed to work

Image
Yep, I had a feeling someone was watching me. The cat was probably wondering again what in the world I was doing. Anyway, yesterday's outfit was like Friday arrived a day earlier. Yes, it's very casual and I was really feeling the salmon pink color here.

[Lookbook 10.09.2014] Color-taming

Image
Despite all the deadlines and the gazillion more things to do, it's fun times at work this week as our HR is holding a wellness fair for us with a particular focus on style. Dubbed #OurSmartStyle, the week-long event features booths from various partners like Robinsons Dept. Store, Belo Medical Group, Fitness First, G2000, Basic House, and more. There's everything from discounted apparel and fragrances to free hair and makeup. So my colleagues and I checked out the photobooth at the lobby. But since 4 shots and 1 print clearly ain't enough, we also brought our own camera. And of course I got some shots for this outfit post.

Wearing colored pants: Maroon, wine, bordeaux, whatever

Image
Wearing darker-hued trousers leaves a man with much less trouble in picking a shirt and jacket to go with it. Now colored pants--much so bright ones--can be a little challenging at times. But then it's nice to wear some color, even on occasion. I previously showed some ideas on  how to wear green pants  and how to wear orange pants  based on how I've worn such items in the past but now let's turn to something that's much safer in my opinion. It's called by many names--bordeaux, maroon, wine--but however you call it, here are a few personal experiences with this pant color. Pair it with brown Black is probably the safest to use with maroon pants but try adding some brown into the mix. In this look I put on a brown plaid blazer that just happened to have some nice maroon lines that easily anchors the blazer to the pants. But with or without those lines, most shades of brown will work on their own.

Wearing colored pants: Bright and rusty

Image
I do admit that wearing darker-hued trousers leaves a man with much less trouble in picking a shirt and jacket to go with it. Now colored pants--much so bright ones--can be a little challenging at times. But then it's nice to wear some color, even on occasion. After showing you some ideas on how to wear green pants , let's see about bright, rust orange jeans this time. They're jeans, so t-shirts are a no-brainer, even polo shirts. But it's not about them, right? It's more about what colors go well with orange. For starters, white, blue and brown go nicely with orange. But putting on more colors, like this graphic print shirt here, can also work. While there's blue, yellow, green, and red on this tee, there's also some orange on it, which conveniently ties everything else to the jeans's color. For footwear, it's brown high-cut sneakers here because like I said, it goes well with orange.

Wearing colored pants: It can be easy being green

Image
I do admit that wearing darker-hued trousers leaves a man with much less trouble in picking a shirt and jacket to go with it. Now colored pants --much so bright ones--can be a little challenging at times. But then it's nice to wear some color, even on occasion. Take, for instance, green. Just what do you wear it with? Here are a few ideas that I've pulled off myself, extracted from my lookbook archives . Bright green I don't know what shade of green this is but pairing it with a white shirt is your safest bet. White belt, why not? The bold color just screams casual, so loafers are in order. A dark blue jacket probably wouldn't hurt but if you're feeling a little adventurous, why not put on a madras jacket like this one? Even if it's a patterned jacket, it still works because the dominant color is blue. Besides, it's also anchored on the little blue, red and white details on my loafers.

[Lookbook 01.11.2013] Summer snuck out of the asylum

Image
Oh yeah, I was feeling a little summery last Friday although ironically, while the day started out fine, it rained later in the day that lasted on and off till over the weekend. Crazy weather! Maybe I should've checked the forecast first but it was useless crying over spilled milk since I've already let some nautical-inspired pieces out of the closet the night before.
